Juventud Torremolinos has announced the signing of Carlos Kameni (Douala, Cameroon, February 18, 1984) to strengthen their organizational structure. The former goalkeeper, renowned for his stints at Espanyol, Málaga, and Antequera—where he hung up his boots two seasons ago—will lead the newly created Department of Player Well-being and Integral Development. This initiative focuses on guiding and improving players to help them achieve their best performance.
The Costa del Sol side has turned their fortunes around, climbing out of the relegation zone after securing seven points from their last nine, including a prestigious victory over Atlético Madrileño. Survival is within reach, with crucial matches against Real Murcia at El Pozuelo and a season finale against Antequera at El Maulí.
Since retiring from professional football, the Cameroonian has been involved with Atlético Benamiel, helping develop their youth academy and training goalkeepers. A figure of great stature and charisma, Kameni arrives at a Torremolinos club currently undergoing a growth phase, having achieved two consecutive promotions from Tercera RFEF to Primera RFEF.

In line with the demands of modern football, the club is committed to a model that goes beyond physical and tactical performance, also emphasizing the mental, emotional, and personal balance of each player. This new department is created with the aim of supporting players on a daily basis, facilitating their adaptation, enhancing their performance, and helping them reach their best version both on and off the pitch.
Kameni’s work will focus on individual player monitoring, support during adaptation processes (especially for young players, foreigners, or new signings), as well as working on key aspects such as confidence, motivation, pressure management, and emotional stability. Additionally, he will play a fundamental role in improving the dressing room atmosphere and strengthening the connection between the squad, coaching staff, and the club.
With this addition, Juventud Torremolinos reinforces its commitment to being a modern, professional, and close-knit entity that not only shapes footballers but also people.”

An Impressive Career
Carlos Kameni’s reputation is undeniable. The Cameroonian goalkeeper hung up his gloves after outstanding seasons at Espanyol and Málaga, as well as a stint at Fenerbahçe and success with his national team—winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002 and an Olympic gold medal in Sydney 2000.
After a period in Andorran football, he retired at Antequera, where he played five games covering for Iván Moreno’s injury, leaving a lasting impression.
