Rasta Vechta’s basketball team punched their ticket to the playoffs and will now challenge Alba Berlin in the quarterfinals. Vechta, who finished seventh in the regular season, beat VET-Concept Gladiators Trier 111-83 in the play-ins, showcasing exceptional offensive firepower. The promoted side from Trier still has a lifeline: they will now play against the Rostock Seawolves to keep their season alive and earn a potential matchup with Bayern Munich.

Rostock and Vechta Keep Rolling

Rostock had earlier eliminated MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg with a commanding 91-71 victory. D’Shawn Schwartz led the charge with 24 points, supported by Taronte Crockett (15) and Lukasz Kolenda (13). For Ludwigsburg, the season is over – Bent Leuchten’s 12 points were not enough to turn the tide.

In Vechta, the hosts pulled away decisively in the fourth quarter, leaving no doubt about the outcome. Rasta guard Malik Parsons led all scorers with 24 points, while Nolan Adekunle (15) was the top performer for Trier.

The opponent for regular-season champion Bayern Munich will be determined on Thursday. Trier will have home-court advantage in their do-or-die matchup against Rostock. The playoffs are played in a best-of-five format, with the higher-seeded team hosting the first two games and a potential decisive Game 5.
